More Analysis of Thriller Posters
Recently, I have been looking at different types of thriller posters to gain a rough idea of what font we should use for our title sequence to our thriller opening. The two posters that caught my eye was 'Black Swan'and'Orphan'.
These two posters both create a new meaning for creativity and originality. The Black Swan shows a close up of a pale young girl's face with a crack on the side, this may suggest that the character is pure but somehow faces some type of crises that she struggles to gain her innocence and purity back once more throughout the movie. The title, 'Black Swan', indicates that a certain character is tainted from the rest of the other members of an organisation. We, as an audience, can assume that this character is the girl on the front. The font of the writing in the poster is Bold and has uses the colour Black, this is probably used to relate it to the title of the movie and another claim could be that the character consists on many emotions such as resentment, purity and confidence.
Similarly, with Orphan. In the poster of Orphan, we see, again, a pale young girl staring boldly and confidently into the people that are looking at her. From this, we can suggest that the character is different from the average girl due to the level of focus in her expression and how she differs to an ordinary idea of a young girl being cheerful and playful. Also she seems to surrounded by darkness in the background, this shows that the character has been through some patches through her life and that it has a huge impact in the way she is now. The font in the poster is very lovely in my opinion where it says on the top of the poster 'there's something wrong with esther.' we see an normal and basic type of font, this is to show the normal society's view about the girl but where it states the title 'Orphan' we see a edgy and crazy type of font. We can make the expression that this is the perspective of the young girl, it makes the audience feel some dishonesty within the character.
Through these aspects, we can gained knowledege about the type of characters they are and what may happen during the movie. We, as a group, are going involve this skills during the title sequence of the movie by using certain fonts on different characters to show the clear contrast between the sane and the insane.
